Job Description

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The successful candidate will actively be contributing to research on indigenization efforts of Auto Steering System, Smart Irrigation system elements, Green Cabin/Hydroponics, sensors and its data, with a strategic focus on complete electrical and mechanical/mechatronic designing of these precision agriculture technologies.
  • The successful candidate is expected to cultivate an externally funded, self-sustaining research program for Project GreenAI, emphasizing industrial collaboration. This program should effectively address the specific agricultural needs of the region, promoting innovation and sustainability in the field of precision agriculture.
  • The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the ongoing development of research programs, providing supervision for both ongoing as well as new projects as per the scope defined in the PC-I of the project.
  • The individual will be responsible for devising meticulous research proposals and drafting project reports as required. Additionally, they will oversee the implementation of programs, ensuring seamless coordination across different labs to maximize efficiency.
  • To identify and coordinate with potential academia, industry, government and international partners for rolling-out relevant Key Technology Areas (KTAs). To manage all correspondence with vendors, linked with planning and rolling-out of KTAs under his / her domain.
  • To crystallize and regularly update on project through inputs from respective Vendors and SMEs.
  • To maintain “Strong Linkages” at all tiers, including but not limited to international partners, national-level public sector authorities / agencies and other Dy PDs of GreenAI (NASTP & PCSIR).
  • To facilitate during the technical evaluation of proposals received against the procurements / development and technology intensive project as per the PPRA guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A qualified person with 18 years of education with specialization in Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering / Electronics or closely related disciplines.
  • Publications in relevant peer-reviewed scientific journals are an asset.
  • PhD/Post Doctorate scholar will be preferred.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines (electronics (machines), sensors, robotics, Control Systems, mechatronics, circuitry, sensors, Auto Guidance system, hydroponics, Precision Agriculture Techniques (PATs)) is manadatory.
  • Strong research background with experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for data analysis and software development.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in data collection, analysis, and reporting and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Experience in developing and managing funding projects is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.
  • The ideal candidate must embody qualities of high motivation, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills. Integrity is paramount, and should have the ability to effectively engage with students and colleagues.
  • Experience of using formal project management approaches / tools (Agile, Primavera, MS Project, Redmine, Trello etc) would be preferred

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in electrical / electronic / mechanical / mechatronic designing of precision agriculture or closely related disciplines.

  • This position is one-year term with possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance or need basis.
